Resources & Referral Codes for Mental Health Professionals

Mental Status: a Podcast About Burnout

This podcast, created by yours truly, is an exploration of the messy, beautiful, and often frustrating aspects of being a mental health professional. In it, I speak with MH workers across the globe who have experienced burnout, and we explore all the ways it shows up, takes hold, and transforms the way we practice.

Mental Health Match

If you’re looking for an additional (or alternative) directory listing for your practice, I would highly recommend Mental Health Match. Their technology is built using the same types of intelligence as is used in dating apps, to help match you with your ideal clients based on the parameters you set for yourself & the specific things the client is looking to work on.

If you want to give Mental Health Match a try for FREE for 3 months (seriously, this is an awesome deal), you can use my Mental Health Match referral code*: CXN4486M87

*note: When you redeem this code, you get a free 3-month trial, and I get a credit toward one free month on my account.

Simple Practice

Simple Practice has been a lifesaver for me in my journey into private practice. SP allows me to schedule clients quickly and easily, it helps me organize intake + evaluation documents, it sends out complimentary text message/voice reminders for client sessions, and gives me HIPAA-compliant teletherapy software to use for my sessions. Not only that, but they offer their own directory called Monarch, and if you’re interested, you can get a professional website (with an additional monthly charge) on their platform.

If you want to give Simple Practice a try, you can use my Simple Practice referral code* for a $100 credit, click here.

*note: When you redeem this code and opt in for a paid subscription, you and I both get a $100 credit applied to our accounts.

Psychology Today

We all know and love (or love-hate) Psychology Today. When it comes to therapist directories, they’ve really cornered the market. If you’ve been looking into building a profile for yourself but feel out-off by the cost, reach out to me and let me know! I can send you a referral code which will give you 6 months FREE on Psychology Today (and will, in return, give me one month free). The nice thing about this is that once I share the referral code with you, you and I both have a direct professional connection on PT, which will help both of us expand our reach to potential clients.

PostScan Mail

If you’re like me and you operate a fully virtual practice, this can present some issues when it comes to maintaining your privacy. Many states require a street address to form an organization, and often won’t accept a PO Box.

PostScan Mail gives you the option of having an actual physical address where you can get your mail sent, without having to list your home address on your website, articles of organization, or other legal documents. PostScan Mail gives you a personalized address, and will alert you whenever a new piece of mail arrives. You then have the option to allow them to open it and scan it into the system for you, or you can request they forward it to your address.

Ivy Pay

I use Ivy Pay to process my credit card payments. Ivy Pay is a HIPAA-compliant credit card processing service specifically for therapists. This is a simple & secure way for clinicians to seamlessly process payments for their sessions.

Ivy Pay has a few benefits:

  • You arre able to instantly process payments without swiping a card or getting card information at each appointment

  • The service is HIPAA-compliant for security & confidentiality

  • Client credit card information is stored with Ivy Pay, not in your files or other records; clinicians not have access to your stored credit card information

  • You are able to review charges and payments in a text message thread

Interested in making the switch or adding this to your repertoire of payment options? It’s easy to sign up. When you do, you can use my Ivy Pay referral code*: megk658

*note: using this referral code will give you $1000 in free charges (i.e. you won’t get charged the fee for using the service, for up to $1000 in charges) and I will get the same!

Squarespace

Do you like the look of this website? Pretty nice, huh. Well, it’s pretty much all thanks to Squarespace. These folks are awesome and they do a great job of making beautiful website design accessible to all types of folks. If you’re looking to revamp your site, or if you need to start from scratch, I’d recommend giving Squarespace a try. You get 2 weeks of a free trial to see how you like the look + feel of your website. After that, a Business Plan will run you around $216/year and gives you access to a custom domain (billed at $20/year after 1 year free), a Google Workspace + custom email (billed at $6/month after 1 year free), eCommerce, scheduling, and super powerful yet brilliantly simple web design. Again, not getting paid by Sqaurespace to say these things. I just like them a lot and would recommend them to just about anybody.

Therapy Den

I’ve only recently started up with Therapy Den, but they’re an awesome resource for folks who are looking for inclusive, anti-racist, anti-oppressive therapists. Creating a profile on Therapy Den is FREE. You have the option to give back monetarily if that’s accessible to you.
